Sixteen years ago, in June of 2009, Greater Ozarks Audubon and Missouri State University hosted its inaugural Green Leadership Academy for Diverse Ecosystems (GLADE). GLADE was designed to develop, inspire, and empower the conservation leaders of tomorrow. Since "tomorrow" is now here, I'd like to report that the track record of the program is outstanding, and many graduates have moved on to careers in conservation and others carry a lifelong conservation ethos with them in their everyday life.
Best of all, this week the academy is in holding its 15th camp week in the heart of the Missouri prairie.
Since I wrote the GLADE manual to be shared with other environmental educators, I'd like to provide it here for anyone interested in developing conservation leaders using ecological study and leaderful action techniques to inspire young people and build conservation centered communities.
